Invastion of Iraq Ms.Kristi

One of the most important events that happened in the past decade was the invasion of Iraq that took place in 2003. The invasion was led by the United State alongside the United Kingdom and smaller contingents from Australia and Poland. Four countries participated with troops during the initial invasion phase, which lasted from March 20 to May 1. These were the United State ( 248,000), United Kindom (45,000) Australia ( 2,000), 36 other countries were involved in its aftermath. The invasion marked the beginning of the current Iraq war. In preparation for the invasion, 100,000 us troops were assembled in Kuwait by Februry 18. The United State Supplied the vas majority of the invading forces, but also received support from kurdish irregulars in Iraq Kurdistan. According to then President of the United State, George W.Bush and then Prime Minster of the United Kingdo,Tony Blair, the reason for the invasion were to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction ( WMD), to end Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people.The started by an air strike on the Iraqi Presidential palace on March 19,2003. The day after the Forces lanched an incursion into Basra. The main invasion army Moved into southern Iraq, occupying fields and occupying the region and engaging in the Battle of Nasiriyanh. Most of the Iraqi military was quickly defeated and Baghdad was occupied on April 9,2003. Other operations occvrred against pockets of Iraqi army Including the captore of Tikrit on April 15. On May 1,2003 on end of Major Combat Operations was declared, ending the invasion periad and beginning the military occvpation periad. The Iraqi war of 2003 was one of the most important events that took place in the past decade. the war has ended and Many people suffered. The war started in 2003 in Iraq and it occupyed surrounding areas.
